I didn’t know how I would feel celebrating my bday away from friends this year but it ended up being really great and a ton of fun. A friend that I met at the beginning of my trip in South Africa come to Greece for one week in order to celebrate with me and tour Athens.
We became very close in South Africa and it was amazing to have her here especially to celebrate a milestone birthday – although I honestly felt no different and at times, forgot my bday was approaching. Even the day before, my friend mentioned that it would be my birthday soon and it gave me pause while I calculated the date. She did make sure the day-of was all about me though. As soon as I woke up she jumped on the bed with my birthday gift. The contents of the gift happened to be perfect and exactly what I needed without even knowing it.
The t-shirt, mug and button were items I wore/carried with me all day while we were out and about in Athens.
We visited several well-known tourist spots including the Acropolis Museum, Monastiraki Square and Roman Agora.
We also rented a car and drove to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. I highly recommend that – it was beautiful and the drive was pretty as well.
In just a few weeks was Christmas and Jordan!
